Spring Ahead - SBS Hire Intelligence

At last, the long-awaited spring has arrived, and, although the winter was brutally cold outside, things inside Stephen-Bradford have been heating-up! We have had the good fortune to be working with a range of new clients, including:  Mozilla, WebMD, Alliance Bernstein, Naked Communications, VSA and KAYAK—placing senior professionals in Analytics and Big Data, Product Management, Customer Marketing, Creative, Strategic Planning and Shopper Marketing roles. Many of these hard to fill positions reflecting the increased demand for these critical skill sets in today’s dramatically changing media and communications landscape. And, in addition to the accelerated growth we are witnessing in the Media, Marketing Sciences, Advertising Communications and Retail sectors is the surge of business in our growing Nonprofit practice.

In April the Obama administration invited millennial philanthropists to the White house to discuss the next generation of philanthropic giving. While the debate rages on about how and when young donors will choose to engage with missions that move them, smart nonprofits are looking to stay ahead of the curve. To this end, we are meeting with boards who are hungry for leadership in the CEO and Chief Philanthropic Officer chairs who can hold the line on keeping traditional revenue streams robust while looking ahead to add talent who can see the future and lead the organization to disruptive strategies that bring nontraditional donors and stakeholders to the table.

With regard to our Nonprofit clients, we are seeing “Lehman Refugees” who are wealth managers that left the world of finance behind after the collapse of Lehman Brothers and directed their considerable talent into fundraising and development. The termnonprofit is a tax code, not a goal (!) and nonprofits who are looking beyond the usual suspects for the next generation of leadership are finding they can meet their stretch goals in record time. New SBS nonprofit clients such as Proponent Federal Credit Union and Pro Bono Partnership are in the market for entrepreneurial talent with strong ties to the communities in which they serve, while our entrepreneurial conservation clients such as NYC Audubon, Tusk and Panthera draw candidates with very diverse backgrounds and experience.

So, as you can see, Stephen-Bradford Search has had no time for hibernation this past winter. To address our continued growth, we have added two new practice leads:

Jackie Orris joins Nannette Wilner in our growing Retail, Fashion and Beauty practice. Jackie brings over 15 years of experience as a Human Resource leader, working with premier brands such as: Ralph Lauren, Jones Apparel Group, Cole Haan, Kenneth Cole and Barnes & Noble.  In addition, she has held senior HR roles in the Marketing, Finance and Hospitality industries. Jackie is known for her business partnership and innovative approach to talent acquisition.  During her tenures, she consistently enabled corporate growth and development at all levels and across all functions.

Judy Miller is a terrific addition to our Media and Emerging Technology practice. She brings over 20 years of experience in b2b /b2c media where she helped build and grow high performing sales organizations. This valued experience provides her with the ability to understand the unique needs of her clients, as well as the complexities of the positions she’s hired to fill. She is an active member of ABM's marketing services committee and is a frequent industry "go to person" resource and speaker.

So, welcome to spring and hopefully a warm beautiful summer ahead!  May your businesses continue to flourish in this rapidly evolving economic landscape. And, to help insure they do, please feel free to reach out to any one of us here at Stephen-Bradford with your business issues and talent needs--we are here to provide insight, counsel and to help you and your management team identify the stellar talent necessary, to take you and your company to the next level!
